Support
Most questions are answered below. If yours is not, write to hello@tapnomad.app. Tell us your iPhone model, the iOS version and what you were doing; a screenshot helps. We never need your password, your Apple ID or your payment details, and we will not ask for them.
Subscription and billing
How do I cancel or change my plan? In the app: Settings → Manage subscription → Manage in the App Store. You can also open the iPhone’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I get a refund? Apple handles every payment, so refunds go through Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot see or refund a payment ourselves.
I paid, but Premium is not active. Open Settings → Restore purchases. It also brings Premium back after a reinstall or on a new iPhone that uses the same Apple ID.
How does the free trial work? For new subscribers the annual plan starts with a free trial; the paywall shows its length and the price charged when it ends. Cancel at least a day before it ends and you pay nothing.
Offline maps
How do I download a city? Settings → Offline maps, then pick a city from the list or the map. The size is shown before anything downloads. A large city arrives as several parts under one name (Tokyo is eight parts), and one tap downloads or deletes them all.
The app asked before downloading on mobile data. Why? Offline maps are large. Off Wi-Fi the app asks once in each country, because roaming data can be expensive. You can reset that choice in Settings → Offline maps.
A download stopped halfway. Open Offline maps and tap the city again; it fetches only the parts that are missing.
What happens to my maps if my subscription ends? They keep working for seven days, then switch off. The files stay on your iPhone, so they work again at once if you resubscribe. Delete them any time in Offline maps to free the space.
The map is empty or says it could not load. Without a downloaded city the map needs a connection. Check it and tap Try again.
Water verdicts
Where do the verdicts come from? From official sources: national regulators, water utilities and, where no city data is published, international indicators. Each place names its source and the date it was verified; tap the source for its details and, when you are online and the link is known to work, the original document. Where nobody publishes data, the app says Unverified instead of guessing.
A verdict looks wrong or out of date. Tell us the place and, if you can, a link to the official source you have seen. We check every report against the source before anything changes.
A water point is missing, closed or behind a gate. Water points and shops come from OpenStreetMap, which anyone can correct. Tell us as well, and note that the app marks points that are private, for customers only, or inside an airport where they may be past security.
TapNomad gives informational guidance, not medical advice or a guarantee. If local authorities, signs or your host say the water is unsafe, do not drink it. See the disclaimer.
Location and privacy
Do I have to share my location? No. Search works without it. With permission the app finds the nearest place and centres the map on you, only while you use the app.
What do you know about me? There is no account and no sign-in. Usage statistics and crash reports are off until you turn them on, and you can change either in Settings → Privacy & consent. The details are in the privacy policy.
The app itself
Languages. English, German, French and Spanish: Settings → Language.
Something crashed or looks broken. Update to the newest version from the App Store first. If it still happens, write to us with the steps that lead to it.
